Have you found yourself forced into a situation where suddenly its just you and a Linux Server?
Come across a software solution that scratches your itch only to find it required Linux and turned it down due to your lack of understanding?
Being asked to take on some Linux responsibilities at work?
Linux is a complex beast but its generally harder for new users to find a good starting point to understand the Operating System as a whole rather than just learn what they need and get out, especially with so many distributions to choose from. Ill be talking “How do I Linux?” at the space on 6/22 starting promptly at 12pm until 3PM and there will be a 20$ fee for non-members of SMhack. Click Here to purchase your ticket.
The class will go over various concepts and userland utilities. This will be a mix of death by PowerPoint, walk through with Virtual Box, and a Q&A session as time permits. The goal of the class is to give you a broader view of the Operating System and its moving parts, as well some methods of troubleshooting and administration.
This class would be good for the following people:
• Folks who wish to get started with Linux
• Windows Administrators wishing to grasp similar concepts in Linux
• Anyone taking classes or studying towards entry Linux certifications
• Linux users who wish to round out their knowledge
• Anyone users looking for a refresher
I suggest bringing something to take notes and/or a laptop, WiFi and Ethernet connections are available at the space. If you wish to take part in the hands on a VirtualBox VM will be available the day of the class, please install Virtual Box prior to the class.
