Have a server on the internet? When was the last time you looked at your logs on that server? Chances are you have been scanned and prodded by thousands of ill-intent bots. Wouldn’t it be nice to prevent those? Join me at Southern Maryland Hackerspace as I go through implementing systems that help protect your *nix system.
Conrad is a self-taught *nix server admin that runs a public Ubuntu server. When I first deployed the server I noticed a disturbing pattern of access attempts. This prompted me to do some research on securing a web server. More specifically an Apache web server. I have tried many different ways to secure my web server and what I will be covering caught my eye as being done really well.
